Jet grouting for sealing between bedrock and sheet piles for a building pit in Nittedal.

Keller installed around 140 pcs of jet grouting columns with diameters of 1,2m and lengths varying from 0,4 to 5m.

Jet grouting RV4

The project

Anlegg Øst Entreprenør had the contract with making a new culvert under the Rv4 road in Nittedal. A building pit was established with the use of sheet piles. To prevent water from entering the pit, jet grouting was used to seal the gaps between the sheet piles and the bedrock.

The challenge

The challenge in this project was mainly to make sure that no gaps in the jet grouting sealing wall was present due to large steps in the bedrock.

The solution

Keller established around 140 pcs of Ø1,2 m jet grouting columns in the bottom of the sheet piles along the whole building pit. The columns was established with a good overlap. To make sure a good connection with the bedrock was established, a special jet grouting monitor with a combination of downward facing and horizontal facing nozzles was used.
